Motor slip ring is a key part of 3 phase ac slip ring induction motor and DC motor, it is also an important part of dynamic electrical connection, which are commonly made by copper, steel and stainless steel. As the most common material, copper has good conductivity, but it is soft, which means copper slip ring is easy to wear during motor operation. Besides, the carbon brush material is hard, and carbon brush faces large radial force during operation, which may damage the surface of the slip ring, leading to serous failure such as ignition and heating of the collector ring.
In comparison, the steel slip ring is cost effective, and the wear resistance of the steel material is relatively good, but the material is easy to rust in a humid environment, which is a problem that must be noted in the production, processing and operation of the motor. In order to avoid such problems, the non-processed surface of the steel slip ring should be treated with rust prevention, and the joint surface of the carbon brush should be run in through the two to form a protective film on the surface.
