3 phase dc motor is a kind of DC motor, the stator of brushed motor is installed with fixed main magnetic poles and brushes, and the rotor is installed with armature windings and commutator. The electrical energy from the DC power supply enters the armature winding through the brushes and commutator to generate armature current, and the magnetic field generated by the armature current interacts with the main magnetic field to generate electromagnetic torque, which causes the motor to rotate and drive the load. Due to the existence of brushes and commutator, brushed motors have complex structure, poor reliability, many failures, large maintenance workload, short life, and commutation sparks are prone to electromagnetic interference.

 

Brushed motors use mechanical commutation, the magnetic poles do not move and the coil rotates. When the motor is working, the coil and commutator rotate, the magnets and carbon brushes do not rotate, and the alternating direction of the coil current is accomplished by the phase changer and brushes that rotate with the motor. As the motor rotates, different coils or different poles of the same coil are energized at different moments, so that the N-S pole of the coil generating the magnetic field has a suitable angular difference with the N-S pole of the stator of the closest permanent magnet, and the magnetic field opposites attract and repel, generating force to push the motor to rotate. Carbon electrodes slide on the coil terminals, like brushes on the surface of an object, so called carbon "brush". Mutual sliding, will rub the carbon brush, resulting in wear and tear, the need for regular replacement of carbon brushes; carbon brushes and coil wiring alternating between the head, electrical sparks will occur, resulting in electromagnetic breakage, interference with electronic equipment.
